Welcome to Chino Rotary District 5300, Chino CA

Chino Rotary Club was founded in 1925 in a farming community of dairy farms, alfalfa fields and grazing pastures. Today the club is in the middle of a growing area of southern California that is changing from rural to metropolitan. Chino Rotary Club has served the community’s youth and seniors and also internationally with money donated for the eradication of polio. We are committed to continuing this service as we support Rotary President William Boyd’s theme “Lead The Way”.

What is Rotary?

Chino Rotary Club is part of an international organization of 1.2 million service-minded business and professional leaders in over 31,000 Rotary Clubs in 165 nations and geographical areas.

Rotary International is the world’s oldest and most widespread service organization, founded in 1905 by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney, who wanted to encourage among his business acquaintances the fellowship he had known in his boyhood days in a small town in Vermont.

Service and fellowship are hallmarks of Chino Rotary and Rotarians worldwide. The Rotary motto “Service Above Self”, guides the actions of individual clubs as they plan projects to promote literacy, provide clean, safe water in developing countries, fight hunger and health concerns at the local and international levels and to eradicate polio. Through this shared commitment, Rotarians develop a feeling of fellowship that extends beyond their clubs, communities and countries to encompass the Rotary world.

What Chino Rotary Does...

Chino Rotary Club’s service takes many forms: it is divided among club, community, vocational and international projects.

Club Service goals include activities and events to promote fun and fellowship. Fellowship is a goal among members through the support of the family of Rotary, the youth, the spouses and the families of Rotarians. Recruitment and training of new members for leadership positions in the community and club are added benefits to members as well as to the service they provide to our community.

Community Service projects in the Chino Valley include: the promotion of literacy through music, “Play It Again, Chino” - a musical instrument refurbishing program for elementary school band, the “2007 books for Literacy” - a book donation service to the Friends of the Chino Library and the donation of new books to elementary school students. Chino Rotary Club supports the Boy Scouts Troop 200 and Eagle Scout Program, Police Explorers, Community Chorus, The Regional Occupation Program, “Every 15 Minutes” - the drunk/driving diversion high school program, the high school Interact Club, a teen leadership camp weekend and a scholarship for a student at Chaffey Information Technology Center for $2500, and Isaiah’s Rock holiday food and toy program.

Vocational Service includes the Excellence in Education Awards to teachers for classroom resources and District 5300’s speech, music and ethics essay contests. Chino Rotary Club also promotes projects that help members contribute their vocational talents and, in turn, help them to consider their vocation to be another opportunity to serve. Chino Rotary members exemplify high ethical standards through the use of The Four-Way Test.

International Service includes: support of Heifer Project International, drilling water wells in Africa, homes built by teams in Mexico, Group Study Teams (teams of 4 young professional members with a Rotarian leader studying cultural and business systems for 4 weeks ), and the leadership in the eradication of polio.

What it means to be a Rotarian...

Membership is by invitation and is built on the principle of diversity among occupations in order to bring together people of differing backgrounds to share experiences and vocational information.

Being a Rotarian means making a strong commitment of time and energy. Each Rotary Club meets weekly and members are expected to maintain good attendance records. In addition to attending meetings, Rotarians are expected to participate actively in their club service projects. The rewards will equal or surpass the level of commitment. To become a Rotarian is to join an organization whose members make an important difference in the quality of life in the community and worldwide. Chino Rotary invites you to explore the possibilities.

Chino Rotary meets Wednesdays, at 12:15p.m., at the Community Building located at 10th and “B” St. in Chino.
